For this project I first created a traditional painting on canvas. I digitized the painting which then became the interface for the underlying video and animations. I chose a floor mat for the interactive user interface. The project was created using: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash,Action Script 2.0, After Effects, Final Cut Pro. The audio design was done in Logic Express. In this installation I want to explore how inter-faith dialogue can help create solutions to our current situation. Through video, audio, animation and interaction the user is offered glimpses into these three faith traditions. <br/>
The installation consists of a painting on canvas and a projected digital version of the painting which is controlled by an interactive mat. The digital painting contains underlying animations introducing four separate content areas: Sacred Text, Art &amp; Culture, Essentials, and Building Bridges. Within each content area the user has access to video interviews with a representative from each faith tradition. The interactive mat allows the user to select the content area and navigate within the selected area.<br/>
My hope is to invite the user into a reflective experience, a contemplative dialogue with the three faith traditions and thus foster greater understanding and tolerance.<br/><br/>This .pdf of my MFA process book is available for download (1.4MB) It describes my project and process in some detail.
